Sentencing Advocacy Lawyer - $275 Public Defenders - $225 Mitigation Specialist - $200 8:30 am - Check in @ Row House - Parkville 6264 Lewis Street, Parkville Missouri 9 am - 10:15 am Mitigation & Non-Capital Sentencing Investigation. Mitigation is a core component of the effective representation of our clients. Sentencing is often the most consequential stage of the proceeding. For many clients mitigation determines: 1) whether the client will go to jail or prison; and 2) the length and conditions of supervision, access to alternatives and the collateral consequences affecting all aspects of the client's life. 15 minute break 10:30 am - 11:45 am Bring Your Own Case Format Using a real case we will create a mitigation plan for the client and explore exhibit creation and team formation. The participants must be prepared to sign confidentiality agreements before participating and submit a case for exploration seven days (7) days before the program date. We will select 1 or 2 cases to workshop. 15 minute break 12 pm - 1:15 pm The Role of Exercise and Movement when Treating Vicarious Trauma. This session integrates lecture with structured physical activity connecting movement and exercise to ethical competence, professional responsibility and attorney longevity. All participants should come ready to participate in 30 minutes of recovery work on a rower. LIMITED SEATS: 25 lawyers and/or mitigation specialist. Public Defender Discount available.
